Albert J. Mueller
President & CEO

Mr. Mueller has provided investment advice to institutions, individuals and families of significant wealth for more than 20 years. During his career at Morgan Stanley and UBS, Mr. Mueller had responsibility for evaluating and recommending investments in virtually every asset class. His clients relied on his ability to construct and manage portfolios to achieve their investment objectives. Mr. Mueller's professional experience on Wall Street and personal experience as a major donor and board member have prepared him to provide Excellence in Giving℠ clients with valuable insight into the effective use of their philanthropic capital.

Mr. Mueller, a native of California, is a graduate of the University of Arizona and holds an MBA from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA. He and his wife Susan reside in Colorado Springs with their three children.

Laura Fisher
Partner

Mrs. Fisher joined Excellence in Giving in 2008 as the firm's first partner. She will be responsible for all phases of client development and for managing client relationships. Mrs. Fisher brings over 20 years of combined corporate and non-profit management experience. During her career at JP Morgan Chase, Mrs. Fisher specialized in mergers and acquisitions and later provided portfolio management advice to high net worth individuals, foundations and endowments. Most recently, Mrs. Fisher served on the executive leadership team and led the development efforts for Compassion International, a non-profit based in Colorado Springs.

Mrs. Fisher studied mathematics at Baylor University and earned a B.A. in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin. She and her husband, Rick, and their two teenage children live in Monument, Colorado.

Thor Iverson
Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Iverson is responsible for Excellence in Giving’s operations and client services. He brings a passion for wise stewardship and high-impact giving to the role, having served as chief financial officer for family-owned businesses with high-capacity, philanthropic owners. Mr. Iverson brings more than twenty years of senior management experience to Excellence in Giving. He served as an executive for several technology firms including Echelon Corporation, BeAtHome.com, Amity Technology, Concord, Inc., and Great Plains Software, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2001. He began his career as a software engineer at Hewlett Packard. Mr. Iverson’s professional experience includes extensive international business in Russia, Ukraine, and Scandinavia.

He received his MBA from Stanford University and his B.S. in Computer Science and Business Administration from North Dakota State University. Mr. Iverson is a published author and a patent holder. He lives in Colorado Springs with his wife Dana and their two children.

Mark Percy
Managing Director

Mr. Percy manages Excellence in Giving's California office. He is committed to effective, sustainable and highly leveraged philanthropy. As an experienced business executive, social entrepreneur and grant maker from a high- profile political family, he views stewardship as an opportunity to help unite families around a common purpose and wise investment decisions. For over a decade, Mr. Percy has been a board member of a non-profit specializing in micro enterprise. He brings more than two decades of business development experience from privately-held and Fortune 500 companies. Formerly, Mr. Percy was SVP and then President of Charles Percy & Associates, an international trade and investment consulting firm. Today, he serves on the National Leadership Council of Communities in Schools.

Mr. Percy is a graduate of Stanford University and has an MBA degree from Yale University’s School of Management. In 2000, he completed the C.S. Lewis Institute Fellow’s Program in Washington, D.C. Currently, Mr. Percy is in The Master’s Program, a unique three-year strategic life-coaching program for Christian leaders. He lives in southern California with his wife of 30 years, Leslee. Their two adult children, Taylor and Gavin, also live in southern California.

John N. Paasonen
Vice President

Mr. Paasonen joined Mr. Mueller in 2003 to start Excellence in Giving. He developed the firm's service delivery structure, due diligence tools and management process. Currently, Mr. Paasonen oversees Excellence in Giving's communications and marketing efforts. Throughout his career, Mr. Paasonen has provided a broad range of philanthropic services to high net worth families. He joined with Mr. Mueller from the capital division of an investment-banking firm serving the not-for-profit sector. There, he assisted families with substantial resources in making effective charitable investment decisions, and managed the firm's due diligence reporting process.

Mr. Paasonen earned a B.A. in International Business from Taylor University and an MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. A citizen of both the U.S. and Great Britain, Mr. Paasonen currently resides in London, England.

Craig Glass
Client Advisor

Mr. Glass joins Excellence in Giving as a client services advisor. He has 20 years of leadership experience, including his role as Vice President of Ministries for International Teams, a missions agency based in Chicago, and three years as National Director and Vice President of Team Ministries with International Students Inc. Prior to his work at ISI, Mr. Glass was on staff at Willow Creek Community Church providing leadership to the Legacy men’s ministry, consisting of 100 small groups and 800 men. He is currently the director of Peregrine Ministries, an organization focused on leading men into inspiring adventure and authentic relationships that transform lives. Craig and his wife Beryl live in Monument, Colorado, have been married for 30 years, and have three children.

Karen B. Rodman
Client Advisor

Mrs. Rodman has over 20 years experience in nonprofit management, marketing, and development. Most recently, Mrs. Rodman founded the Philanthropic Strategy Group, a philanthropic consulting group focusing on strategic development, outcome evaluations, and revenue generation models for nonprofit agencies, private, and corporate foundations. Prior to that, she oversaw the Redman Foundation and the M.R. & Evelyn Hudson Foundation as executive director. In 1999, Dallas Social Venture Partners, a venture capital fund for social purpose, was founded and directed under her leadership until 2002.

Mrs. Rodman is an active community volunteer, serving on the board of directors of Uganda Children’s Charity Foundation, as well as on the advisory boards of the Social Enterprise Alliance, Dallas Children’s Theater, Gilda’s Club North Texas and Holy Faith Episcopal Church Foreign Mission Committee. She is an often-sought speaker to groups like the Council on Foundations, the Center for Nonprofit Management and various universities. She is a graduate of Texas A&M Health Science Center at Dallas with a B.S. degree. Mrs. Rodman and her husband live in Santa Fe, New Mexico and have one daughter.

Kate Courtney
Client Advisor

Mrs. Courtney joined the Excellence in Giving℠ team in 2007 from Greenville, South Carolina where she pursued a career in real estate. Previously, Mrs. Courtney served the Maclellan Foundation where she reviewed grant applications. Her background and experience managing client relationships has prepared her to serve Excellence in Giving clients in the role of Client Services Associate.

Mrs. Courtney graduated from Bryan College with a B.A. in Communications. She and her husband, Russell, live in Colorado Springs.

Andrew Hess
Research Associate

Mr. Hess brings his background in research and education to Excellence in Giving as a research associate. He is responsible for supporting Excellence in Giving's efforts to be recognized as the premier source of philanthropic analysis and non-profit due diligence. Since joining Excellence in Giving in 2007, Mr. Hess has contributed his talent in both writing and analytical thinking to the research team. Previously, Mr. Hess was a teacher at a charter school for two years and served as the research assistant to the senior pastor of a 5,000-member church in Colorado Springs.

Mr. Hess earned a B.A. in Psychology from Taylor University in 2003. He is currently completing the final year of his Master's of Divinity degree at Denver Seminary. Upon completion, Mr. Hess plans to pursue a Ph.D. in systematic theology. He resides just outside Colorado Springs, in Monument, Colorado.
